Swan Island Industrial Park
In a matter of weeks, I will exhibit a series of photographs under the title Swan Island Industrial Park (see the above link for more info). This RACC-funded project reflects on the natural and built environment of Swan Island, an "industrial sanctuary" in the city of Portland. The exhibition includes 15 black and white images, each 20-7/8 x 23-7/8 inches. Last year, I started working with medium format photographic still images (after years of working in the 35mm format). This exhibition marks my first serious use of the 6x7 format in my work. I am delighted by the results, as well as the work done in support of the exhibition by Mark Eifert (photography assistance and film processing), Blue Moon Camera (additional film processing), Ann Ploeger and Pushdot Studios (film scanning and printing), and Matt McCalmont of Art Substrates.

This December will mark the birth of a new collaboration between Pam Minty and myself. Beam Projects is an experiment in turning our studio into a periodic exhibition space to present our own work, as well as the work of other local and regional artists. The space in our studio that we've designed exhibition space is approximately 225 square feet, adequate for small-in-scale exhibitions.
The first show for Beam Projects will be my photographic series Swan Island Industrial Park. See information above for more details about this upcoming exhibition.

Caldera Artist-In-Residence in January
In January, I will visit Caldera (Sisters, Oregon) as an artist-in-residence. It's a wonderful opportunity which I am very excited to be invited to participate in. I will spend my time at Caldera developing a new project about residential real estate, urban design, affordability and diversity in urban Portland, Oregon. This project will begin production in 2014.
